Homeroom Parents and Homeroom Helpers

Every child delights in having his or her parents participate in school activities. By volunteering to be your child's homeroom parent or a homeroom helper, you can be directly involved with classroom activities. Homeroom parents are assigned to each classroom.

Generally, classroom teachers allow 2-4 parents at a time to assist in classroom activities. Homeroom helpers assist with parties as requested by the homeroom parents and donate items for parties. Grab this chance to be directly involved in your child’s classroom life!

As a homeroom parent, you will be responsible for:

*       Attending (at least) 3 monthly PTA meetings throughout the year

*       Obtaining volunteers when needed for grade specific activities and participating in and helping out with grade specific activities

*       Planning and coordinating parties for your child’s class and fairly dividing up party planning and responsibilities

*      Donating party items or time for classroom parties

*Remember, you must be a current, paid PTA Member to be a Homeroom Parent & Homeroom Helper.

Parents are only allowed to visit ONE classroom party.  You are not able to attend multiple parties on that day due to having multiple children in the school (AM kindergarten is the only exception).  This is a security risk and it also leaves other parents with limited help.   We ask that you visit the PTA website review the school policies.

School policy states younger children are not able to attend classroom parties.  Please make alternative arrangements for their supervision.  If you are unable to do so, please let the other homeroom parents know so someone else can fill your spot.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

The Abington Heights School District has put into place a set of procedures for classroom parties to be applied at all four elementary schools that includes the following guidelines:
  • Snacks for classroom parties will be purchased by the PTA through the cafeteria only. No food aside from that ordered through the cafeteria will be allowed into classrooms.
  • No edible items may be sent in to be distributed to students, neither during the party nor to be sent home. This includes candy or food items of any kind.
  • Please be aware that the Abington Heights School District strictly prohibits the public release of student photographs. When visiting classrooms for holiday parties, school events, ect., parents are reminded that any posting of student photographs on social media sites is considered "public release" and is strictly prohibited.
We sincerely appreciate everyone's help and cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for all of our students.  Any questions regarding this matter can be directed to Principal Bridget Frounfelker.

Effective immediately, all homeroom parents or homeroom parent helpers must have their child abuse clearance, PA State police clearance, and FBI clearance (if applicable) on file with the school office or you will not be permitted to volunteer.
